As part of our next event, Mili Manek and Kreative Juices are proud to present a talk on Indian textile crafts by Sangeeta Roy (Founder-Director, Kala Tarang (Singapore). Sangeeta will talk about handcrafted textiles from India with a special focus on the crafts meant for beautifying the cloth after it comes off the loom. She will offer an overview of the post-loom textile crafts in India, like embroideries, block printing, etc. and discussing stories of specific textile crafts, she will trace the evolution of the textile industry with changing times and aesthetics. After the talk, there will be a sale of a select range of stoles, shawls, saris and home-furnishings.

Sangeeta Roy is the founder of Kala Tarang, a for-profit social enterprise which promotes and sells Indian handicrafts in Singapore. She has had the privilege of being connected with the Indian crafts sector for over a decade and always endeavors to create awareness about traditional Indian arts and crafts. At a time when we are re-learning the importance of eco-friendly and environmentally sustainable processes and products, Sangeeta through her venture - Kala Tarang, draws attention to craftspeople who have lived in seamless harmony with nature for centuries. Known for her commitment to the handicrafts sector, she has conducted talks on different aspects of Indian craft in an attempt to make people as enthusiastic about traditional crafts as her.
